Here we go!
Oook, so it’s January and I feel like I’m finally really getting started on this new adventure. I am officially working for the Training sub-department within Encounter, the short term mission department at Adventures. So what I’ll mostly be doing in the office is developing training tools and events for our Project Leaders. Basically, I’ll be helping grow and develop the best leaders possible so that our trips can be wonderful for the participants and, of course, for the people we reach while in these locations. Our team also develops and manages our short term trips. Everything from planning where people will sleep to setting up awesome ministry opportunities for participants to be involved in during their individual trips. Our goal is creating “More Ministry that Matters” so that while on these trips, we are really making an impact.
I’m really loving it so far. My co-workers are really fun and welcoming. We are in a season of preparing right now so things are a little slower, but from what I understand, come Spring and Summer we are going to be working full force and busy busy busy. I’m thankful I get to ease in to that season!
Right now, I’m beginning my fundraising efforts to support my position. This has been scary. I’m already seeing how God is going to grow my faith in this process. He’s taken me from a mindset of “There’s no way any one is going to support me. How the heck am I going to raise support!?” to “Ok, I believe you can do this, God. Help me walk in that belief!” to “God, this is Your money. You called me here and therefore You WILL provide the financing. My part in this is simply asking the people You have put in my life if You are calling them to support me.” Phew! I told you He’s already growing my faith! I want to share what God is doing around the world through Adventures in Missions and through me. I’m building a team of people to share that with. So, if you’re reading this, I’m considering you part of my team. And I’m thankful for you. Please pray for me as God uses my new position to show himself to people around the world. And ask God if He is calling you to support me financially or in any way so that it can be possible.
I’ll be raising $1,450 per month this year and my goal is to be fully supported by March 7th, 2014. One time gifts are obviously VERY appreciated! However, I am going to mostly focus my fundraising efforts on consistent monthly support in one year commitments. This money will make up what I live on, so that I can devote my days full-time to this position and not have to seek any additional salary. Just FYI, all donations are to Adventures in Missions as an organization, but in my name. That way they are tax deductible for the supporter. Support can be made easily by clicking the Support Me! tab on the left of this page. You can also set up an Electronic Funds Transfer so that it happens automatically. Or of course, there’s always snail mail 🙂 for which you’d need a support card. I can get that to you, if needed.
Keep an eye out for more updates! I can’t wait to see how God uses this year to do BIG things in my life, the life of my team (that’s you,) the lives that our trip participants and leaders, and the lives they are reaching around the world.
